Beginning Monday, November 13th, the City will begin scheduled maintenance on three City-owned bridges which will involve vehicle lane and sidewalk closures. Each bridge will be done separately, during daytime hours (no night work) and each is scheduled to take approximately a week, weather permitting. The schedule is as follows:

Week of Monday, November 13th – The Capitol Landing Rd. Bridge between Lafayette St. and First St.  The bridge will be completely closed to thru traffic until all work is completed.  Public Works will be performing sidewalk repairs at the same time.
Week of Monday, November 27th – The Page Street Bridge over CSX railway between Lafayette St. to Penniman Dr. Only affected lanes will be closed, traffic will merge into one lane in each direction.
Week of Monday, December 4th – The Bypass Road Bridge over CSX railway between Richmond Rd. and Colony Dr.  Only affected lanes will be closed, traffic will merge into one lane in each direction.

The maintenance work involves expansion joint replacement. Forsythe Caulking of Portsmouth, Virginia is contracted to do the work in the amount of $85,503.00. Motorists are advised to be aware of changing traffic patterns and reduced speed in the work area.
