At approximately 6am, Monday, July 30, 2012, contractors for CSX Railroad will begin work to reconstruct the CXS vehicular railroad crossing at North Henry Street near the Williamsburg Post Office. Repairs are expected to take two days, during which time traffic on North Henry Street will be rerouted. Download map (PDF)
City crews will re-pave the crossing on Wednesday, August 1, but traffic will resume. Timing for the repairs and paving is dependent on weather conditions.
The City of Williamsburg applied for grant funds for the repairs under VDOT’s Highway-Rail Grade Crossing Program in January 2011. Funding for the project comes from the Federal Government under the “Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century” as administered by VDOT.
