Williamsburg Parks Join Mobile App Network
Posted Date: 8/30/2012

The City’s Parks and Recreation Department has linked up with a recently launched mobile app -- ParksNReviews -- that is available for iPhone and Android based phones and has a network of more than 13,000 parks across the nation.

ParksNReviews determines your location and finds parks for you within a designated radius or by a particular amenity, such as boating or picnic facilities. The app then gives you information about the park, links to a map for directions, telephone number and the website. You can also rate the park and add a review.

“We were excited to take advantage of this opportunity to help match people with parks,” said Parks & Recreation Department Director Lori Rierson. “There’s no cost either to the City or to users of the app, and now residents and visitors with a smartphone can have the information they need at their fingertips to explore all the wonderful recreational opportunities in Williamsburg.”

In 2011 the City of Williamsburg introduced its own free mobile app, City411, to enable residents to report non-emergency service issues. Links to the download are here.
