To be eligible to vote in the November 6, 2012, Presidential Election, you must be 18 years of age on or before November 6, 2012, and registered to vote.
The last day a person may register to vote or make changes to their registration is Monday, October 15, 2012 at 4:30 p.m.
Absentee Ballots
Registrants who will not be in the City on Election Day due to illness, business or vacation may apply for an absentee ballot in writing to the registrar or in person. The Registrar's office is located on the first floor in the Municipal Building, 401 Lafayette Street, Williamsburg, Virginia 23185. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The final day to apply for an absentee ballot by mail is Tuesday, October 30, 2012, and in person Saturday, November 3, 2012, at 4:30 p.m.
In-person absentee voting will be available during the Registrar's regular office hours and on Saturday, October 27, 2012 and November 3, 2012 from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Please note: Due to changes in 2012 to Virginia's voter identification laws, Virginia voters are required to provide an acceptable form of identification when voting. This requirement applies to in-person absentee voters as well as on Election Day. Click here for more information.
