As a service to residents, the City of Williamsburg provides free Leaf Collection each year from November through the second week in January. The leaves are vacuumed and ground into mulch for use by the Landscaping Department. The 2012-2013 collections begin the week of November 5. (Download schedule here)
The City is divided into two routes -- Red and Blue --and there are 5 collections for each route. The list of neighborhoods in each route is included below. In order to move progressively from one route to the next, each street on each route will be collected only once during the week. Leaves must be raked to the street by 7am on the Monday of the collection week.
Red Route Leaves must be raked to the street by 7 a.m. on Mondays: Nov. 5, Nov. 19, Dec. 3, Dec. 17 & Dec. 31.
Blue Route Leaves must be raked to the street by 7 a.m. on Mondays: Nov. 12, Nov. 26, Dec. 10, Dec. 24 & Jan. 7.
A 1-page schedule with complete information is available for download here (pdf) and by request from the Public Works Department, 220-6140 or publicworks@williamsburgva.gov.
