RECYCLING SERVICES – Residential curbside recycling is each Wednesday. Green bins are provided to residents upon request to the City. Bins should be placed at curbside by 7:00 a.m.

Materials can be mixed in the bin and will be sorted at the processing facility. Extra recyclables should be placed in a paper bag or an open container next to your recycling bin--materials placed in plastic bags will not be collected.

The following materials are recyclable items:

Household paper – newspapers & inserts, paper grocery bags, junk mail, magazines, cards, stationary, school paper, telephone books, single-ply cardboard (cereal and tissue boxes), computer paper, and shredded paper in paper bags.

Glass – clear, brown and green bottles & jars. Please rinse and remove lids.

Metal and Aluminum – food & beverage cans

Plastic – bottles and jugs with a neck i.e. milk jugs, soda bottles, household cleaner bottles, shampoo bottles. Please rinse and remove lids.

Corrugated Cardboard – flattened, no larger than 3 X 4 ft pieces; call for special pickup of large amounts of cardboard (757) 220-6140.

Computers– The City offers drop-off computer recycling twice a year. Computers are collected at the Household Chemical Collection located at the Tewning Road Convenience Center (off of Ironbound Road). See Household Chemical Collection for schedule.

 Tewning Road Convenience Center at 107 Tewning Road is also available to drop off recycling materials. The Center provides recycling for small businesses.
