WELFARE REFORMS

The Virginia Independence Program (VIP) and the Virginia Initiatives for Employment and not Welfare (VIEW) were developed to aid in the implementation of Welfare Reform. The VIEW Program provides transitional assistance on a phase-in and phase-out basis for families in crisis. Assistance is provided to resolve existing crises, to develop short and long-term goals, and to engage in employment training or job search/referral services. This is done through a participatory approach, as the recipient gains the necessary tools and skills to bring about stability and independence in his or her life. In order to receive Temporary Assistance to Needy Families [TANF] funds, the following general guidelines will apply:
