How to Make a Complaint

If you wish to make a complaint about the actions of a Williamsburg Police Officer, civilian employee, or about any aspect of the Williamsburg Police operations, please;

Come to the Police Department, 425 Armistead Avenue, and tell any employee that you want to make a complaint, or
-
Call the Police Department, 757-220-2331, and tell the person answering the phone that you want to make a complaint, or
- Write your complaint out and mail it to the Chief of Police, Williamsburg Police Department, 425 Armistead Avenue, Williamsburg, Virginia 23185.

Come to the Police Department, 425 Armistead Avenue, and tell any employee that you want to make a complaint, or
-
A Williamsburg Police Supervisor will assist you in filling out a Report of Complaint Against Police Personnel form. This form asks you to identify yourself and then to give specific details about your complaint.

Your complaint will then be investigated. You may be contacted and asked additional questions about your complaint.

You will be contacted telling you that your complaint has been received and that an investigation is being conducted.

You will be contacted with a status report on your complaint after 15 days if the investigation is not completed.

When your complaint has been investigated, the Chief of Police will review the investigation and contact you (either orally or in writing) explaining the conclusion of the investigation.
