To advance the City's vision, every two years the Williamsburg City Council identifies and adopts new strategic objectives for City government. Biennial Goals, Initiatives and Outcomes (GIOs) provide an expression of City priorities, as specific and measurable as possible, covering a two-year period.
In preparing the 2017/2018 GIOs, part of the public input process included a community workshop held in September 2016 in the Community Building. Residents and stakeholders were encouraged to speak with City leaders, department directors and staff to create a list of potential City priorities.
For those who could not attend the workshop or preferred to provide input, a "duplicate workshop" was available digitally on the City's Peak Democracy portal. Visitors to the portal could watch the GIO presentation and provide suggestions and comments on the City's proposed priorities.
In November 2016, the City Manager presented the final document to City Council for approval. His presentation can be viewed here.
