The Williamsburg Police Department is dedicated to providing excellent police services to those living in the community and visiting for the first time. We appreciate it when a citizen takes the time to recognize the efforts of one of our staff members. We also understand that there may be times when we do not live up to those expectations. We make every effort to investigate all complaints made about any member of the Williamsburg Police Department.

How to Make a Compliment or Complaint
If you wish to make a compliment or complaint about the actions of a Williamsburg Police Officer, civilian employee, or about any aspect of the Williamsburg Police Department operations please do one of the following:
- Come to the Police Department at 425 Armistead Avenue, and tell any employee that you wish to make a complaint or compliment
- Call the Police Department at 757-220-2331 and tell the person answering the phone that you want to make a complaint or compliment
- Write your compliment or complaint out and mail it to:

If you wish to report a complaint, a Williamsburg Police Supervisor will assist you in filling out the Compliment-Complaint form. This form asks you to identify yourself and give specific details of your complaint.
Investigation & Follow-Up
Your complaint will be investigated. You may be contacted and asked additional questions about your complaint.
You will be contacted to be advised that your complaint has been received and an investigation is being conducted.
You will be notified of the status of your complaint after 15 days if the investigation has not been completed.
When your complaint has been investigated, the Chief of Police will review the investigation and contact you (orally or in writing) explaining the conclusion of the investigation.
CALEA Accreditation Public Comment Portal
The purpose of this public portal is to receive comments regarding an agency's compliance with CALEA standards, engagement in the service community, delivery of public safety services, and overall candidacy for accredited status. These comments can be in the form of commendations or concerns. The overall intent of the accreditation process is to provide the participating agency with information to support continuous improvement, as well as foster the pursuit of professional excellence.
