UPCOMING NATIONAL RE-ACCREDITATION ASSESSMENT
The Williamsburg Police Department is scheduled for an on-site assessment as part of a program to maintain nationwide accreditation.
Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc., the program requires agencies to meet state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.
As part of the on-site assessment, a public information session will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at 3:00 p.m., in the Stryker Building, 412 North Boundary Street, Williamsburg, Virginia in the Council Chambers. Additionally, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments by calling 757-220-6116 on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. and leave a message for the Assessor. Messages will be received directly by the Assessment Team. Telephone comments are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with the Commission’s standards. A copy of the standards is available at the Williamsburg Police Department, located at 425 Armistead Avenue. Local contact is Accreditation Manager Deborah Middlebrook.
Anyone wishing to submit written comments about the Williamsburg Police Department’s ability to comply with the standards for accreditation may send them to the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc., 13575 Heathcote Blvd, Suite 320, Gainesville, Virginia 20155.
