Ride Along Program

COVID-19: Suspension of Ride-Alongs

Due to COVID-19 our ride-along program has been suspended until further notice. We look forward to sharing our experiences with our community as soon as it is safe to do so.

About the Program

The Williamsburg Police Department offers a Ride-Along Program to people interested in developing a better understanding of the broad scope of police work accomplished in Williamsburg. In addition, the program offers local residents an opportunity to see their community from a different perspective and enhances transparency between the police and community members.

Applying to the Program

To take advantage of the program, interested individuals must register in advance. First, read the requirements (PDF) and the rules of conduct (PDF) before applying. If you meet the requirements please fill out an Application and Liability Release Form (PDF).

Completed documents can be emailed to Brian Carlsen or delivered in person to the Williamsburg Police Department. An officer will soon be in contact with the applicant to confirm approval and to schedule a date for the Ride-Along as well as to explain the required protocol.
