Prince George Parking Garage
The Prince George Parking Garage, located at 230 N. Henry St., has 362 parking spaces, as well as two charging locations for electric vehicles. There are two Universal Charging Stations on the first level and two Tesla Charging Stations on the second level. First 30 minutes free, $1 an hour afterward (maximum $12 a day). Credit and debit cards only. No cash accepted.
The payment system is fully automated, using license plate reader technology. There are several ways to pay for parking - all are automated.
Use the App
Simply download the iOS or Android Passport Parking app, fill in your information and, like a virtual parking meter, enter the amount of time you estimate you'll be parked. If you begin to run out of time while you are shopping or dining, you will receive a reminder notification on your phone. You do not need to return to your car, you can add parking time through your phone.
Online Account
If you use the Prince George Parking Garage frequently, it is best to set up an account for ease of parking. Go to the Park Williamsburg portal and set up an account. You can list as many of your vehicles on the account as you want.
Once the account is established, you never have to use a pay station again. The license plate reader will then recognize your car(s) as they enter and exit the garage, and the system will charge your credit/debit card for the amount of each stay. Just drive in and drive out. No drama.
Pay by Website
Simply go to Passport Parking and pay through the website.
Pay at the Pay Station in the Garage
Use Pay Stations near the pedestrian entrance on Prince George Street. The City uses a prepayment system like a virtual parking meter. Pay for the time you estimate you'll be parked. Remember, you can avoid payment lines by downloading the app.
How to Use the Pay Station
After you park your car, take a photo of your license plate.
Visit the Pay Station on the first floor. You will be prompted to:
- Enter your license plate number (can't remember it? You just took a picture of it!)
- Enter the state of your license plate (Virginia, New York, etc.)
- Enter your estimated parking time (how long you plan to use the garage)
- Swipe your credit/debit card
- Check whether you want a text or email receipt and the transaction is completed
