Ways to Play

So Many Ways to Play in the City of Williamsburg!

The City of Williamsburg Parks and Recreation Department was established in 1969.  The department operates ten parks, a recreation center and a variety of quality athletic leagues, classes, programs, events and services designed to improve the quality of life for the community.

Events

Williamsburg Parks and Recreation hosts a variety of events, including Pups in Pastels in April, Kids Fishing Derby in June, Canine Carnival in October, and several pickleball tournaments throughout the year.

Trails

Waller Mill Park provides 4 trails throughout our 2,700 acre park to choose from.  Our wooded hiking trails provide 6 ¼ miles for a picturesque walk with water and wooded views. A two-mile asphalt bike trail offers a scenic connection between Mooretown and Rochambeau Roads. A short hike from the park along the asphalt bike trail will bring you to the Lookout Tower, which offers a panoramic view of the water and woodlands.

Fitness

Fitness opportunities at the Quarterpath Recreation Center include classes, group exercise, and our popular free walking club.

Playground

Kiwanis Park playground is sure to be on every family’s favorite list!   In addition to slides and swings, the playground features two accessible pieces of play equipment for kids, including a rotating climbing station called Rev8 and an adventure zip line.  The park also has nine exercise machines that will allow park-goers to do chest, leg and shoulder presses, leg extensions, butterflies and more.  Other additions include a walking path around the entire playground area, which features shaded sitting areas.

Disc Golf

Bring your family and friends to Waller Mill Park to play disc golf. The park has an 18-hole disc golf course that is perfect for all ages. There are nine holes for beginners. This terrain is easier to walk and it’s a shorter distance between holes. The full 18-hole course is great for advance players looking for a challenge.

Athletics

Looking for a court, field, or other place to play?  We are committed to providing quality sports leagues, tournaments and field rental opportunities for softball, volleyball, basketball, tennis and pickleball.

Tennis

We offer 7 tennis courts at Kiwanis Park for our tennis enthusiasts.  Youth tennis instruction is provided for all ages and levels and our adult leagues play weeknights.

Fishing

Fishing at Waller Mill Park is always a source of enjoyment for young and old alike. Within the 360 acre reservoir, maintained populations of largemouth bass, striped bass, perch, brim, crappie and more await your hook. Fishing docks are accessible to wheelchairs.  Fishing poles are available for rental as well as bait and tackle for purchase.
