City of Williamsburg COVID-19 Vaccination Update – March 13, 2021

tyrone franklin vaccinationSecretary of Health and Human Resources Daniel Carey, M.D., administered the Greater Williamsburg Clinic’s 10,000th dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine during a site visit on Friday, March 12, 2021.

Carey, a cardiologist, administered the dose to the City of Williamsburg’s Williamsburg Redevelopment and Housing Authority Director Tyrone Franklin, who was due for his second dose of the vaccine.

The clinic, operating out of the Colonial Williamsburg Visitor Center, administered 1,277 doses this week for a total of 10,496 since its opening on Jan. 22, 2021.

Carey visited the Greater Williamsburg Clinic to meet with Peninsula leaders, including City Manager Andrew O. Trivette, York County Administrator Neil Morgan, Hampton City Manager Mary Bunting, as well as Williamsburg Mayor Douglas Pons, State Sen. Monty Mason, Peninsula Health District Director Dr. Natasha Dwamena, Riverside Chief Operating Officer Dr. Mike Dacey, Colonial Williamsburg President Cliff Fleet, and William & Mary President Katherine Rowe.

During his visit, the secretary also toured the facility to learn about its operations and to thank the people who are working and volunteering at the clinic.

“Our clinic is successful because we have so many partners in the region who are dedicated to finding the best way to deliver vaccines to the community safely and efficiently,” Trivette said. “We work well together, and we were excited to show Secretary Carey how and why this clinic is so successful.”

We ask for your continued patience as we work toward administering vaccinations to more segments of the general public.
