City of Williamsburg COVID-19 Vaccination Update – March 26, 2021

The Greater Williamsburg Clinic, operating out of the Colonial Williamsburg Visitor Center, administered 1,161 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine this week for a total of 12,665 vaccinations since its opening on Friday, Jan. 22, 2021.

This week, Gov. Ralph Northam announced that as COVID-19 vaccinations continue to rise in Virginia, certain sports and entertainment venues may begin to operate with additional capacity effective Thursday, April 1. On that day, indoor and outdoor gathering limits will increase.

Key changes to his amended Executive Order include:

  • Capacity limits for social gatherings will increase from 10 to 50 people indoors and from 25 to 100 people outdoors.
  • All entertainment venues must continue to operate at 30% capacity. Indoor venues will have a 500-person cap.
  • The number of spectators permitted at indoor recreational sporting events will increase from 25 to 100 people per field or 30% capacity, whichever is less. For outdoor settings, the limit will increase from 250 to 500 people per field or 30% capacity, whichever is less.

Please remember to wear a mask, maintain physical distance from others, and wash your hands. People who have been vaccinated should continue to follow these mitigation strategies.

We ask for your continued patience as we work toward administering vaccinations to more segments of the public. Though some Virginia health districts have moved into Phase 1C, the Peninsula Health District, which includes the City of Williamsburg, remains in Phase 1B. Be sure to pre-register with the Virginia Health Department so that you can be contacted when it is your turn to be vaccinated.
