City of Williamsburg COVID-19 Vaccination Update – April 17, 2021

The Greater Williamsburg Clinic, operating out of the Colonial Williamsburg Visitor Center, administered 2,467 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine this week for a total of 18,623 vaccinations since its opening on Friday, Jan. 22, 2021.

This week the Peninsula Health District, which encompasses the City of Williamsburg and James City County, moved into Phase 2 of Virginia’s phased vaccine distribution plan. That means anyone age 16 or older is eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. However, only the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine is approved for 16- and 17-year-olds.

On Friday, Gov. Ralph Northam announced that the entire Commonwealth of Virginia will move into Phase 2 on Sunday, April 18. With this move into Phase 2, appointments will still be required for most vaccinations, and appointments can be scheduled directly through the Vaccinate Virginia website starting Sunday.

William & Mary announced that approximately 1,833 employees and 3,889 students have self-reported having received at least one vaccination shot, with 805 employees and 1,200 students fully vaccinated.

To schedule an appointment at the Greater Williamsburg Clinic, stay tuned to the City websiteFacebook page, or Twitter feed for announcements of available appointments.

Please remember to wear a mask, maintain physical distance from others, and wash your hands. People who have been vaccinated should continue to follow these mitigation strategies.

The City of Williamsburg has posted its weekly vaccination update to its online hub, which collects the latest coronavirus information and visual data. This data includes the number of vaccinations administered at the Greater Williamsburg Clinic.
