The Architectural Review Board is hosting a Building Products Showcase of possible additions to its list of allowable building materials.
The showcase is scheduled from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday, May 10, outside the Stryker Center at 412 North Boundary St.
The event offers an opportunity to review the new materials being considered for the update before the ARB makes a final decision on incorporating them into the ongoing update of the Design Review Guidelines, which are a set of rules regarding design elements on structures throughout the City.
“We want people to be able to experience the new materials by seeing and touching them,” said Erin Burke, the City’s principal planner.
The ARB has long planned for this showcase to be a part of updating the design guidelines, but it has been delayed since last year due to the pandemic. The Design Review Guidelines were last updated in 2013; this update coincides with the Comprehensive Plan update.
In the coming months, the ARB will host meetings to discuss the new materials being considered, offering the public an opportunity to weigh in with their opinions. The final adoption of the updated Guidelines is anticipated to occur this fall. Residents may also email Burke at email@example.com with any comments they would like shared with the Board.
