On November 12, 2021, at approximately 6 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Richmond Road for a stabbing incident. Officers found the victim, a 71-year-old female, suffering from stab wounds. She was transported to Riverside Doctors’ Hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim appeared to arrive at Walgreens separately from the suspect, LaTeisha Meekins, 35, of Williamsburg. According to witnesses, the two women met outside the store and spoke for a few moments prior to the stabbing.
Late last night, investigators arrested Meekins and charged her with second-degree murder. Ms. Meekins is being held at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail without bond.
At this time, the motive for this attack is unclear, however, we do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public. The incident remains under investigation by the Williamsburg Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Bureau. The victim’s identity is currently being withheld.
