The Williamsburg Human Services Department’s Care Team is hosting a Community Resource Event on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, to help educate families on the local health and safety resources available to them.
The open house event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 7 at the Williamsburg Community Building, 401 N. Boundary St.
The Community Resource Event is designed for City families and households who want to learn more about public and private resource providers in the community, such as the local government’s Police, Human Services, Fire, and Parks and Recreation departments; employment and training organizations; emergency assistance programs for housing and food; and medical and mental health services.
Attendees can also participate in a raffle to win gift baskets, cash, and gift cards.
The Care Team, supported with funding from the Williamsburg Health Foundation, provides family-centered services aimed at improving the health and well-being of City of Williamsburg children and their families. The Care Team has a dedicated case manager and Registered Nurse to offer an intensive level of support services to City families. The Care Team helps families connect with community resources to address their needs, navigate health and social systems, and gain knowledge and skills to lead a healthier lifestyle.
“I have been doing public health nursing for a long time, and even I am always learning about a new resource provider or service,” said Rachel Miller, the City’s Care Team Registered Nurse and the event’s organizer. “The Community Resource Event will be another opportunity for us to help connect families with the many valuable resources this community has to offer.”
