Suspicious Device Found in Midtown Row Determined to Be a Rubber Toy

rubber toyA suspicious device found in the parking lot of Midtown Row – on the Earth Fare side – has been determined to be a rubber toy.

Williamsburg Fire and Police departments responded to a call of a possible hand grenade in the 200 block of Monticello Avenue at 9:08 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2022. Upon seeing the device, public safety officials evacuated the surrounding businesses and called for assistance from the Newport News Bomb Squad. The FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) also responded to the scene. 

After an investigation, the device was determined to be a rubber toy resembling a hand grenade. There is no danger to the public.
