Update (Sept. 22, 2022):
Jacob Gomez, 18 of Williamsburg, was arrested for residential burglary, indecent exposure, destruction of property, and larceny.
On Sept. 21, 2022, at approximately 8:07 a.m., officers were dispatched to a breaking and entering call in the 800 block of S Henry St. A male suspect, later identified as Gomez, ran out of the residence wearing only a shirt. A foot pursuit of Gomez ensued which led officers into the woods of the surrounding area.
Prior to his capture, Gomez broke into a home in the 100 block of Hunting Cove and stole a homeowner’s shirt before exiting the home. A security perimeter was established and a K9 unit from the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office arrived to assist with the search. Gomez attempted entry into a home in the 100 block of Mimosa Drive but was denied access by the homeowner. Gomez was eventually located in a shed behind a house in the 100 block of Mimosa Drive and arrested without incident.
Gomez is currently being held without bond in the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.

Williamsburg Police detained an 18-year-old Williamsburg man in connection with a burglary of a home that occurred earlier today.
Dispatchers received a report of a burglary in progress of a home on the 800 block of South Henry at 8:07 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022. The homeowner met officers outside his home, saying a person was inside the house. Officers saw the suspect run out of the back door toward Mimosa Drive, and a foot chase ensued.
As officers were establishing a perimeter, WPD was notified of a burglary on Hunting Cove. Officers then spotted the suspect walking along South Henry Street, wearing different clothing; he then darted into a bamboo thicket. A K-9 with the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office began tracking the suspect, which led officers to the suspect’s location in an outbuilding on the 100 block of Mimosa Drive. He was apprehended at 10:30 a.m.
YPSO and the William & Mary Police Department assisted with this incident.
