Brush Fire Damages Footbridge at Redoubt Park; Area Closed to Public Indefinitely

Redoubt Park Brush Fire 1A downed power line caused a brush fire in Redoubt Park during the early morning hours of Monday, Sept. 26, 2022. 

Williamsburg Fire crews arrived at Redoubt Park, 510 Quarterpath Road, at 12:51 a.m. to find a fire in progress at Redoubt #1. The fire spread to an area of about 75’x100’, significantly damaging a footbridge. The fire was extinguished at 1:58 a.m.

Public access to Redoubt #1 will be closed indefinitely.

Redoubt Park preserves two redoubts that were built to guard Quarterpath Road during the Battle of Williamsburg in May 1862.
