City of Williamsburg to Begin 2023 Paving Schedule on Monday, Aug. 7

The City of Williamsburg will begin its annual paving program the week of Aug. 7, 2023. This consists of milling and paving streets in several neighborhoods across the City. “No Parking” signs will be posted in the affected areas one day prior to the beginning of work.

Motorists should be prepared for the following:

  • Changing traffic patterns – expect single lane closures during road work.
  • A reduction in speed in the work area.
  • Uneven and rough pavement at times.
  • Unmarked pavement.

Residences and businesses in the paving area will be accessible except for a brief time when the asphalt is initially placed and compacted.

For a list of individual streets slated for paving within each neighborhood, please contact the Department of Public Works at 757-220-6140. Note: Pets should not walk onto the fresh pavement for at least 12-14 hours after the asphalt was placed to avoid injury to their pads.

The schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions. Visit williamsburgva.gov/paving for up-to-date information.
