Williamsburg Parks and Recreation will be honoring and remembering the sacrifice of our fallen Military, Fire, EMS and Law Enforcement members by sharing their fallen hero stories at Waller Mill Park.
During Memorial Day weekend, we honor those who did not come home. The public is invited to participate in the event by sharing their story about a fallen hero. Submit their name, hometown, branch of service, and which conflict they served in, along with a 100-word bio that describes who they were. More information on event and submitting a story can be found at williamsburgva.gov/rec.
“All too often people forget the true meaning of Memorial Day so we wanted to create a static display honoring our fallen to serve as a reminder of their sacrifice and the importance of the holiday.” said Colleen Wilson, program specialist for Williamsburg Parks and Recreation. “Because of these brave men and women who we honor, we are able to enjoy our freedom. We hope everyone will come out to show their support for the fallen military and first responders who gave their lives for us.”
Remembrance signs will be on display from Saturday, May 29, 2021 through Monday, May 31, 2021 at Waller Mill Park, 901 Airport Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188. All are welcome to visit the park and read the stories of those who were taken too soon.
If you have any questions, please contact Colleen Wilson at email@example.com or call 757-259-3760. Deadline for submission is May 17, 2021.
