How does the update process work?

The update process is as follows:

  1. Staff drafts chapters for review by the Planning Commission.
  2. The Planning Commission reviews and discusses the chapters during work sessions.
  3. The Planning Commission uses public input, survey information, community forums, and other resources to ensure each chapter has accurate and timely information.
  4. After all of the chapters have been updated with input from the work sessions, the Planning Commission sets and holds a public hearing for the final draft.
  5. The Planning Commission then sends the final draft of the Comprehensive Plan to City Council with their recommendation.
  6. The City Council receives and holds a public hearing and makes its recommendations for approval.  
  7. City Council adopted the Comprehensive Plan along with the Future Land Use Map at a regular meeting.
