1. How do I know when it's my turn to get vaccinated?

First, determine which phase of the vaccination distribution system you fall under by answering questions on the Virginia Department of Health website. Each health district in Virginia is moving at its own pace. The Peninsula Health District encompasses the City of Williamsburg, James City County, York County, City of Hampton, the City of Newport News and the City of Poquoson. The Virginia Department of Health and your local jurisdictions will announce when the Peninsula Health District moves into a new phase.

The Virginia Department of Health will reach out to those who are pre-registered on the statewide system when it is their turn to be vaccinated. Pre-register now at vaccinate.virginia.gov. For those who may need to talk to someone for help filling out the pre-registration form, call 877-VAX-IN-VA (877-829-4682).

Gov. Ralph Northam announced that all Virginians will be eligible for the vaccine starting April 18.

Pharmacies

To find vaccination appointments at pharmacies in your area or around the state, visit vaccinefinder.org. Vaccines are being offered at several pharmacy chains and local pharmacies.

Virginia Health Department

The Virginia Department of Health’s Peninsula Health District, which encompasses the City of Williamsburg, James City County, York County, the City of Hampton, the City of Newport News, and the City of Poquoson — is in Phase 1C of the Virginia Department of Health’s phased distribution system. 

VDH has launched a statewide pre-registration system. This form simply records people’s contact information; it does not schedule an appointment for you. Peninsula Health District staff will contact those who have filled out the form to schedule a vaccination appointment.

The six localities on the Peninsula — the City of Williamsburg, James City County, York County, the City of Newport News, the City of Hampton, and the City of Poquoson — have worked together to open vaccination clinics in the region. Health Systems

Some health systems, such as Riverside and Sentara, are offering vaccines to some of their primary care patients. They are contacting patients directly.

3. How do I schedule an appointment? / Is there a place to register for the vaccine?

5. I’ve received the first dose of the vaccine. How do I schedule my second?

For those who received vaccinations through their employer at the Greater Williamsburg Clinic:

After your first dose of the vaccination, you should have received a vaccination card that indicates "no earlier than" date for when you should receive your second dose. You will receive an email the week of that "no earlier than" date with a link to schedule your second appointment that week. If you do not receive an email that week, call our vaccine information line at 877-724-1954.

For those who received vaccinations through their healthcare provider or a pharmacy:

Your second dose will be coordinated through your healthcare provider or the pharmacy.

6. What does it cost to receive the vaccine?

Vaccinations are available to anyone free of charge regardless of health insurance.

7. Do I get to choose which vaccine I receive?

Vaccination clinics will provide whichever manufacture of the vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson's Janssen) they are able to procure. You can ask clinics which vaccine they are offering, but they cannot accommodate requests. For the manufactures that require two doses, your second dose should be the same manufacture as your first .
