City Announces Interim Fire Chief

Post Date:06/06/2019 12:01 PM

With the pending retirement of Fire Chief William “Pat” Dent at the end of June, City Manager Andrew Trivette has named Deputy Fire Chief Larry Snyder as Interim Fire Chief for the City of Williamsburg effective July 1, 2019.

“The Williamsburg Fire Department is a high-performance organization with a highly-trained and committed staff that dutifully protects not only our city, but the Greater Williamsburg area as well. Knowing this, I have every confidence that this transition period will be seamless to the community-at-large,” says City Manager Trivette.

The selection process for the next fire chief will begin this month and the application process will close in mid-July. The hiring process will include an interview panel that will be comprised of select fire chiefs from across the Commonwealth, coordinated in part with the assistance from the Virginia Fire Chiefs Association.

The process is anticipated to take several weeks and will end in the appointment of a new fire chief by the city manager.
