Williamsburg Parks & Recreation offers a youth dance program for ages 3 years old and up. Classes are offered throughout the year. *Age does not always determine what level class a dancer should participate in. If the instructor feels the student needs to be placed in another class she will inform the parent or guardian of the student.
Spring Dance program includes recital in May 2019.
• Please complete registration and release form to participate.
• All classes held at Quarterpath Recreation Center.
• Register in person at the Quarterpath Recreation Center or by phone (757) 259-3760.
Creative Movement (age 3-5):
This super fun class is for the tiny dancer. As an introduction to theatrical dance, with a ballet emphasis, balance and gross motor skill development will be of focus. Musicality and other forms of theatrical dance will also be learned. Rehearsal for the upcoming recital will also be during class.

Beginning Contemporary Ballet (age 5-7)
This is a combination class for the young dancer who is ready to further their technique and expression in dance beyond Creative Movement. Classical ballet, various forms of contemporary movement and some jazz technique will be performed.

Contemporary Ballet I & II
(age 8 and up)
This is a combination class for the focused, young dancer who is ready to further their technique and expression in dance. Classical ballet, various forms of contemporary movement and some jazz technique will be performed.

Dance Class Requirements:
- Hair must be off the face, pulled back and preferably in a tight bun.
- Tights/Leggings, ballet slippers and a leotard are to be worn to all dance classes. A ballet skirt is optional.
- All ballet slipper ribbons must be double-knotted or cut off before entering class.
- Make sure your child has used the restroom before class.
- Please be on time and consistent in attendance. Late arrivals disturb the class in session.
About the Instructor:
Amy Rowe
Classical Ballet and Contemporary Dance Director/Instructor/Choreographer
B.A. Dance/Theater Arts, Old Dominion University
Amy encompasses a strong background in both teaching and performing classical ballet and contemporary dance genres. Amy started dancing at a very young age. For over a decade, she performed as a principal dancer and soloist for the Old Dominion University Ballet under the direction of Istvan Ament. She has been teaching on both the east and west coast for the past 17 years. Her distinctive choreography has placed overall in national dance competitions. Amy is looking forward to progressing the dance program for the City of Williamsburg.
