Significant focus on emerging crime

Joined the Tri-Rivers Narcotics Task Force

Enhanced efforts to disrupt illegal narcotics distribution

Joined Historic Triangle Opioid Task Force

Received DMV grant to reduce speeding

Focused on pedestrian safety in key areas

UCR Part I Crime down 22% (55 fewer incidents)

Created an all hazards plan to mitigate and respond to crisis before they occur

Significant effort to reduce impaired driving through awareness and enforcement

Increased speed studies; formulated action plans to standardize responses

Major reorganization of command personnel
Team attended the National Information Officer Conference
Leadership training for entire department, sworn & civilian
Additional officers trained to better work with people in crisis
Additional officers trained in police bicycle and motorcycle operations 



Increased bicycle patrols and increased foot patrols in business areas

Hosted Bicycle Rodeo and assisted kids with bicycle repairs on several occasions
Awarded for work with Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) to better work with people in crisis
"Stuff the Trailer" School Supply Drive assisting over 70 kids with school supplies
Entertainment, giveaways and safety information at annual Senior Spring Fling
Increased parking enforcement staff to proactively address parking concerns and better educate visitors
Partnered with Neighborhood Relations Council to create guides and letters, presented same to the Virginia Municipal League Conference

Incorporated system to allow public access to crime mapping and related incidents (communitycrimemap.com)
Evaluated software to identify opportunities for reduced officer time and increased data quality
Slight increase to vehicle fleet to minimize officer time waiting for vehicles
Implemented video magistrate system to reduce officer time out of neighborhoods and expedite magistrate service
