UPDATE MARCH 30, 2020:  The following City of Williamsburg buildings and facilities are closed to the public through April 23:  Municipal Building, Stryker Center, Quarterpath Recreation Center, Waller Mill Park, Police Department and Fire Station (only required staff will be at work, others will be teleworking).   • All construction inspections for NEW construction will continue without interruption.

  • All Rental inspections have been suspended.

  • All Property maintenance inspections have been suspended.

  • All renovations projects, alteration projects, and addition projects inspections have been suspended.

  • All trade inspections that require entrance to an occupied building have been suspended.

If you would like to use a Third Party Inspection Firm please contact us for prior approval.


            Plan review will continue without interruption.  For new projects we encourage applicants to submit electronically for both the application and plans.  If you must submit hard copies of plan sets or applications there is a drop box located at the front door of the Municipal Building located at 401 Lafayette Street.  The drop box is blue and has the Codes Compliance / Planning sign on the top.  Please email codes compliance at the above email address after you have dropped off your plans, so that we can arrange for pick up and review.
