The Emergency Management Team is responsible for managing and mitigating emergencies and disaster situations for the City of Williamsburg. The members of the team work hand-in-hand with local, county, state, and federal agencies such as the American Red Cross, Williamsburg-James City County Schools, Colonial Williamsburg and the College of William & Mary.

Planning and training are vital to effectively manage an array of disaster situations. The Emergency Management Team follows an all encompassing strategic plan written specifically for the City. The plan is continually improved and updated and members partake in yearly exercises to stay proficient regarding their mitigation skills.
